Changing of the Guard With sincere regrets we inform you that Officer Robert "Barney" Barnhart, Ahwatukee's Police Community Action Officer for the last 10 years, has officially retired as of Wednesday, July 5th after 37 years with the Phoenix Police Department. He will be GREATLY missed by Peggy and Mary, and I'm sure by you as well. We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Community Action Officer, Armida Gonzales, who has been transitioning as our new CAO with Barney for the last several months. Biography of Officer Barnhart This compilation of candid interviews of OFFICER ROBERT "BARNEY" BARNHART chronicles many of his experiences as a police officer, including remembrances of many of his colleagues and is an important part of Phoenix city and police history.
